a dino doodle

I'd been stressing all night about how to draw a dinosaur for this little card I needed, and a few minutes of sketching later, this little dude had evolved. He makes me very happy. Very very happy.

He will be back in future creations. I am sure of that.

I made this card my stamping with black stazon onto a dried teabag, then I watercolored my flower. Inside it says "And may happiness fill your heart each day your whole life through.”

I shared these images I created in Illustrator a while ago, but I just found a print shop that was competent in printing them out, so I made them into little notecards. I sorta love them.

a few cards

Hola darlings. This week has been mostly unproductive craft wise for me. Work has been crazy, so I'm tired at the end of the day. A couple of weekends ago I made some teabag cards, it was one of those lovely days when one card inspires the next, and so on. A wonderfully fun creating time was had.

And, just because I miss my sister.

kraft-y creations

Good Morning! Yay, 3 day weekend! This past week it seems my favorite color for creating has been kraft. I've been inspired by my creative aunt and her teabag creations.

Both of my cards are teabag over booktext. "live well, laugh often, love much" I made for my
parents anniversary card.

I also made a really simple little notebook, with just a watercolored daffodil on the front.

Well thats it for now, time for more creating! Thanks for visiting!

European treasures

Good Morning! Well I am back and slowly settle-ing back into creativity. I've had tons of ideas floating around in my head while I've been away and I am excited to start creating. I visited a few amazing papershops while I was in Europe and brought home some treasures.

I also found some beautiful envelopes and little notebooks...so many treasures! Tomorrow is my day off so I cant wait to have some time to play.

Also, a quick thank you card I made up for fathers day.

Thanks for visiting, happy hump day!

enjoy...the little things

Happy Tuesday. Its been a beautiful day here today, about 30 degrees this afternoon. Unfourtunatly the heat makes my apartment turn into a little sauna.
I stopped at the grocery store on my way home from work, and they had these little flowers on sale for .98 cents. I decided on a beautifully sunny day I needed a little flower for .98 cents. It made my day :) Its all about the little things.

Anyways, made a simple little card tonight. The color came out a bit weird in the picture.

Thats it for now. The rain storms are moving in now and the rest of the week is supposed to be cooler, and rain-ier.

Most Favorite

Well I dont know where the past few weeks have gone! Next week I'm off to Fiji, so not much creating is happening here as I'm trying to get ready. I got some new stamps on the weekend, they a brand I havent seen before, called Technique Tuesday by Ali Edwards and I love the sentiments. I made a super quick and simple card for my friend, with a bit of paint, and just stamped the sentiment on top. For the card base I panted over some pages out of a book, and glued a few of the pages together to make a little booklet inside so it is like a card/letter.

Right now I'm working on a super cute dress that should be perfect for my trip to Fiji, hopefully I will finish that up tomorrow night.

Merry Unbirthday To You

"One birthday every year
But there are three hundred and sixty four unbirthdays!"

I made this card almost a year ago now, but I finally decided it was time to pull it out of my stash and send it off. I am super excited for the new Alice in Wonderland movie this weekend, so I had to send this card off to my bestest friend who used to throw me Unbirthday parties when I was sad. Simple card, but I still like it.

I've also been tinkering with super super simple jewelry. I made a couple of these little necklaces last night and they are just so fun and easy. I will be making many more of these I'm sure!

ButterCup Bag and a Card

Hello all! Well I've spent way too much of my creating time this weekend watching the Olympics, but I have managed to get a few things done.

I love the ButterCup bag pattern so much I had to make another one. I added some interfacing to this one to make it a bit more substantial. I also did bias tape to the top edges and used a button closure instead. I really like how it came out. My sister is giving it to one of her friends as a belated birthday gift so I needed to make a card to go along with it.
Well thats it for this weekend. Hopefully I will have lots of time/energy for creating this weekend. Thanks for visiting!

Cuteness!

Hello and Happy Weekend. I have some cuteness to share today from "1 Yard Wonders". Meet my new friend, Elodie the Elephant. Is she not the most cute-est thing you've seen. Yay to my sister who found her fabric on sale for $4/metre. And the pattern calls for 1 yard, but it only actually takes about 1/4 of a metre.

I knew she would go perfectly with the little elephant card (template from Papertrey Ink), so I had to make up a little matching card for an adorable Welcome Baby Gift. Only problem? I dont know any babies! Oh well - her green and white color theme match my bed set, so maybe I will keep her for myself. She is a real cutie! (The color is a bit off in this one, the card is a not so blindingly yellow)
Anyways thats all I have to share today, I will be back tomorrow with something else sew-y. Have a good weekend!

Happy Valentines

Hola! I have a couple Valentine cards to share today.

I am in love with this little elephant that is from Papertrey Ink's Click Simple. He is just so cute, and I know my grandma (yes I send valentine cards to my grandparents) will enjoy this little cutie.

This little guy is from MFT and my sister bought him for me. She loves bunnies and I love cupcakes so he's perfect!

Okay, well I have to finish packing. I am off tomorrow for a week of lying in the sun, drinking margaritas and sunbathing with my sister! When I'm back I will have a picture of the little cover up dress I made!

Scraps!

The other day I was inspired by Nichole's post using scraps, so I made a super simple card using a few scraps I had laying around.
I like how bright and happy it turned out. Well I've been puttering around at my craftin' table lots, but no other finished projects to share right now. Thanks for visiting!

Happy New Year!

Wow January already! I'm back from my little break of blogging. I've been creating today, I havent had much creating time lately, so I have a backlog of ideas that I am working on.

This little brown box was waiting for me on my desk at work when I came back. It had a few chocolates in it, so I ate them all up, and then I made a simple belly band for the box. Much prettier now, and perfect for a little gift.

I got a bunch of old books from my grandpa's house this christmas, to use the covers for journals and such. Now I am trying to find uses for all the pages in the books, so I cam up with this super simple idea of paiting over the words and stamping on it. I think they look pretty , but I'm not sure if they look too "messy".

Yesterday I went shopping at Fabricland and got some beautiful new fabrics on sale...now I have to start creating something with them!

Anyways, thanks for visiting. Wishing you a Happy New Year!!!

and the Christmas preparations begin!

Hello and thanks for visiting. This morning I made a list of all the little projects and gifts I need to get done by christmas, and it was a long list. So I figured I better get to it!
I was inspired yesterday at Michaels, they had new christmas stamps in the $1.50 bin, so I stocked up, and now I've got a bajillion christmas projects swirling in my mind!

I just have a few things to share. This is a super simple christmas card, using my new tree stamp from michaels. Stamped it in a few different colors, cut them out, and popped them up on dimensionals, added a sentiment. I think its cute, but simple enough to use for a mass produced christmas card.

I made this little box using one of Lauren's templates, Tucked Away. I love these templates, $5 and you can download them right away, print directly onto your cardstock and they are just so cute. For this one I embossed swirls on the base using my cuttlebug, then used by new $1.50 santa stamp, and a piece of ribbon for a handle.

And a new sewing project. This is for a friend for christmas, and I am going to sew a little something else that matches to go with it. Hopefully should have that up here in the next week or so.
Its a wallet. Its the long skinny kind that I prefer, cause they hold so much more. In this one there are 8 card slots, and the bottom part has two pockets the full length of the wallet. I made a little spot to slide a pen. I think it came out pretty cute, I know she will like it.

Anyways, thats it for now. Got lots to do! Hope you are enjoying your weekend! Thanks for visiting!

Happy Halloween!

Happy Friday, and Happy Halloween for tomorrow. I made a few Halloween cards for a few of my favorite people, hopefully they have recieved them by now.

Tonight I puttered around with my sewing machine and some fabric. I am on the hunt for some simple sewing projects to work on. I was working on a little keychain for my sister. It turned out to be a bit more fiddley than expected, but I think it came out okay. She can slip it over her wrist, if her hands are full.
I have a few other sewing projects swirling around my mind...so I'll probably have some more of that to share sometime this weekend. I have a few other papercrafting things on the go to, so hopefully its a good crafting weekend. We dont have much else planned, but I did convince my sister to drive me to a fabric store tomorrow..hopefully that will be inspiring! Thanks for visiting! Have a wonderful weekend :)

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog! After much debate and procrastination I finally decided to join the blogging world as a way to share my scrapbooking, card making, and general papercrafts. I will share lots of pictures, that will hopefully inspire you in some way, as well as any general rants or crafting adventures and maybe some recipes from my sister now and then. So here we go!

So a few weeks ago on the phone, I boasted to my mom (an experienced sewer and quilter) that I was thinking of buying a simple sewing machine to add some stitching to my cards. Well she informed me that she still had her old sewing machine. I knew this sewing machine was nothing special, and I'm sure its older than I am. But we decided that was perfect to start, so she would bring it down with her when my parents drove to visit me. One night while my mom was visiting she gave me the 20 minute briefing on "how to sew". Seemed quite simple - I can handle this. So last night I decide to add some simple stitching to my cards. I get my cards all set and ready for a simple sewing adventure. I sew two stitches, and my thread is so knotted up I have to rip my card to get it out. Hmm...interesting. I cut the edge of my card off, and decide to start over. This time I practice on a scrap of paper...goes perfectly. I do get one card stitched all the way around, mostly perfectly. Quite happy with the outcome. I decide to start on my second card...but the needle has come unthreaded. I re-thread it, and I'm pretty confident I did it right. I sew a few stitches, but then I realize that my needle is not actually sewing, only poking holes in my paper. hmm. I pull my paper out to investigate. I have 4 threads coming up from the bottom...I dont think it is supposed to be like that. I decide I will just put this card on another layer of cardstock for a background. Thats enough sewing for me. I think I will wait for my mom to come back for another visit...and another lesson. Anyways, those were my halloween cards, so I will wait and post those closer to Halloween.

Today I have some pictures to share, this is a little box I made a few months ago to hold a cupcake for a friends birthday. It has a clear acetate lid, and the inside insert has a scallop circle nestability punched to hold my cupcake in place.
I made this card for my sisters birthday. Typed the sentiment up on the computer and stamped some flowers in different colors and cut and layered them, a few rhinestones to add some pop.
I made this little box for some gifts I brought back for a friend from Costa Rica.

Hmm...I just noticed all my first pictures are pink - yes I do like pink, but I do use other colors.

Yup so thats my first post. We'll see how it goes! Thanks for stopping by!
