A sketch challenge

Well today is my second day in a row playing along with an online challenge. This one is for Mojo Monday's sketch. I dont love it, but I'm pretty happy with it. I find christmas cards really hard for me to actually finish, so two in a row must be a record for me! Anyways, I just used one of the trees from Hero Arts Merriest Wishes, and some DP I had lying around. Its hard to see in the picture but there are some snowflakes stamped on my white strip. I think in the next few days I am going to play along with the challenge over on Verve Stamps. Well now I'm off to go watch the Good Wife (new show, I've been enjoying it). One more work day, then a day off! Wahoo!

A Color Challenge - last minute!

Well I am posting super quick today so I can get this one in on Dawn's Color Challenge. At work today I decided I needed to play along, so I rushed home and inked up my new owls from Hero Arts that I bought this weekend. I was on a tight timeline, so I worked super quick on this one. I kinda like it though. Urg something orange on my table, smudged onto the image a bit. Oh well!

I spent way too much money today!

Happy World Card Making Day!
I had a great morning at The Great Canadian Scrapbook Carnival with my sister. Bought quite a few goodies. I want to play with some of my new treasures, but my energy is just too low. Anyways, here are my treasures! I got a simple sewing machine a few weeks ago, so I decided to pick up a few fat quarters to start playing with. I got a half metre of the bottom pink and black one, hopefully if I can get this sewing thing figured out I can make a pretty strap for my camera. I bought three stamp sets from Close to my Heart. I spent way more than I normally would, but I just loved the sets. I bought a couple christmas sets from Hero Arts. I bought a big rubber blackground stamp from Local King Rubber Stamp, its hard to see, but its a floral patten, and I can't wait to start playing with it! Anyways, those are my treasures for now. Hopefully I can post some craftiness soon!

Finally Friday

Yay its Friday again. I haven't been up to much crafty goodness this week. I've been so tired, the last couple of nights I've just collapsed into bed as soon as I get home from work. No Fun! But this weekend I am sure I am going to have a wonderfully productive, energetic, crafting weekend (like my positive thinking?!). Tomorrow I am going to The Great Canadian Scrapbook Carnival - wow did I just figure out how to link my words!? - with my sister. Should be great fun! We started working on some scrapbooking pages together on Tuesday evening, so hopefully on Saturday we can work on them a bit more. As usual, I have a bajillion projects swirling around in my mind, so I cant wait to get started on them.
This weekend, one of my goals is to play along with Dawn's Color challenge. I love her cards, but I've never actually played along with a color challenge before. So hopefully I will have a card to share soon!
Time (and energy) permitting, I will hopefully be back later tonight with some crafty goodness.

Happy Monday!

Every Monday morning my alarm clock goes off at 6:30 am, and I just can't believe how fast the weekends go by. I was sick on Sunday, so I did pretty much nothing at all. Layed on the couch and read my book. Desperate Housewives premier...yay Mike and Susan are back together! I didn't get as much done as I wanted to (I never do), but I was just feeling too low energy and sick on Sunday. Hopefully this week is better. Me and my sister were supposed to go to a card class tomorrow night at a Stampin up demo's house, but I just found out that was cancelled. I did make three christmas cards this weekend for my grandma, I dont love them - but they are okay. I finished the cards tonight, this week I am going to work on some matching envelopes, and packaging them up cute for her.
This card and gift box I made for a friends birthday gift. Its a matchbox style box. I just love black embossing on black. I ended up not using it, so it is waiting for another special occasion in my craft room.
This little round card is like my little holiday card from friday. Same design, sentiment is from a $1.50 set from michaels.
Thats all for today. Tomorrow me and my sister are going to do a bit of scrapbooking together. Yay!

TGIF

I'm back! Yay Friday today. It has been a long, busy week. Can't believe its almost the end of September! Didn't do too much crafting tonight, me and Kristin had some of her school friends over for dinner. Tomorrow we are going to Michaels, which is always exciting for me. Not too much else planned for the weekend, relaxing & crafting. Anyways I have a couple things to share tonight. This cute, simple box and card set:

I made a little milk carton style box, and decorated just using a $1.50 stamp from Michaels, and some polka dots. Ties closed with a polka dot ribbon. Liked it so much, had to make a matching card.
For some reason holiday/christmas cards are impossible for me. I made this simple holiday card, happy enough with it. I want to make a little set of christmas cards for my grandma, so I hope I can come up with some inspiration. My mom bought me a cute set by Hero Arts (Merriest Wishes, I think), so hopefully I'll have some more time to play with those soon. Anyways...thats it for tonight. Have a lovely weekend!

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog! After much debate and procrastination I finally decided to join the blogging world as a way to share my scrapbooking, card making, and general papercrafts. I will share lots of pictures, that will hopefully inspire you in some way, as well as any general rants or crafting adventures and maybe some recipes from my sister now and then. So here we go!

So a few weeks ago on the phone, I boasted to my mom (an experienced sewer and quilter) that I was thinking of buying a simple sewing machine to add some stitching to my cards. Well she informed me that she still had her old sewing machine. I knew this sewing machine was nothing special, and I'm sure its older than I am. But we decided that was perfect to start, so she would bring it down with her when my parents drove to visit me. One night while my mom was visiting she gave me the 20 minute briefing on "how to sew". Seemed quite simple - I can handle this. So last night I decide to add some simple stitching to my cards. I get my cards all set and ready for a simple sewing adventure. I sew two stitches, and my thread is so knotted up I have to rip my card to get it out. Hmm...interesting. I cut the edge of my card off, and decide to start over. This time I practice on a scrap of paper...goes perfectly. I do get one card stitched all the way around, mostly perfectly. Quite happy with the outcome. I decide to start on my second card...but the needle has come unthreaded. I re-thread it, and I'm pretty confident I did it right. I sew a few stitches, but then I realize that my needle is not actually sewing, only poking holes in my paper. hmm. I pull my paper out to investigate. I have 4 threads coming up from the bottom...I dont think it is supposed to be like that. I decide I will just put this card on another layer of cardstock for a background. Thats enough sewing for me. I think I will wait for my mom to come back for another visit...and another lesson. Anyways, those were my halloween cards, so I will wait and post those closer to Halloween.

Today I have some pictures to share, this is a little box I made a few months ago to hold a cupcake for a friends birthday. It has a clear acetate lid, and the inside insert has a scallop circle nestability punched to hold my cupcake in place.
I made this card for my sisters birthday. Typed the sentiment up on the computer and stamped some flowers in different colors and cut and layered them, a few rhinestones to add some pop.
I made this little box for some gifts I brought back for a friend from Costa Rica.

Hmm...I just noticed all my first pictures are pink - yes I do like pink, but I do use other colors.

Yup so thats my first post. We'll see how it goes! Thanks for stopping by!
