a day late

Well I had wanted to play along with this weeks Studio Calico Sunday sketch, and I did, but I didn't get it done last night as I had planned. Instead I spent last night listening to my grandpa's stories.

Got lots to get done today, and its already noon! Better get to it! Thanks for visiting!

December!

Hola! I can't believe its the 2nd of December already and I had wanted to try to keep up with a December Daily Album. I got all my papers ready to go a while ago and designed a tree for my cover. I wanted it to be bound by rings but have a covered spine, so this is what I came up with. Not great, but okay. I am going to try to do a photograph or some journaling or something little everyday, I am going to get some photos printed this weekend and will hopefully get into the groove of it this weekend.

I'm hoping to get organized enough to play along with the Sunday Sketch at Studio Calico this weekend...but we'll see if that happens or not.

Thanks for visiting, happy Friday for tomorrow!

The Great Big Stitched Postcard Swap

A while ago I signed up for the Great Big Stitched Postcard Swap and had lots of fun making a stitched creation.

I received my stitched postcard from Laura in New Mexico...thanks Laura! I love the clay turtle she made in this post!

This weekend I went to a Grand Ball and helped my Auntie at a craft sale and the weekend went by way too fast.

I made this card my stamping with black stazon onto a dried teabag, then I watercolored my flower. Inside it says "And may happiness fill your heart each day your whole life through.”

I shared these images I created in Illustrator a while ago, but I just found a print shop that was competent in printing them out, so I made them into little notecards. I sorta love them.

December Daily Foundation

This year I decided I wanted to play with a December Daily Album, and decided to get started on it last night when I saw this post on Ali Edward's blog. I used a hodgepodge of Christmas Music sheets, envelopes, acetate, Old Olive SU Cardstock. Most of my patterned papers came from Martha Stewart frosty gingerbread paper pad. I embossed a couple of my papers using a couple of cuttlebug embossing folders. I dont have a front cover yet, or really any design elements yet. I'm thinking I will add those as I go. I'm thinking paper clips and staples. And some sewing too of course.

I found this, and I love it. I want to remember to live life every day like this:

#8 Scrapbook my travels

We'll I've decided to get on track with #8 from my 22 List; Scrapbook my travels. Last week I used Studio Calico's Sunday Sketch to start my Europe scrapbooking, and this week I used the Sunday Sketch to start my Fiji Scrapbooking. I'm all over the world, in my digital playtime I've been starting my Egypt Scrapbooking. Hopefully if I can play along often enough with the weekly sketches, that will keep me on track!

Journaling Reads:

"It was an overcast day on Plantation Island b the time our hotel inspections were done, but I headed down to the beach as soon as we were finished. The water was so calm and warm I couldn't resist going in for a swim. Some of the other girls and I swam out to a floating dock and jumped in to the warm water. It was one of my favorite beaches in Fiji. April 2010"

For the title I used the best free font website http://www.kevinandamanda.com/fonts/. Love love love all the free fonts!

Anywho, thats it for now, have a great weekend!

a card challenge

Hola. This weekend I wanted to play along with both the Color Cue challenge and the weekly sketch at Mojo Monday. I was planning to make two separate cards, but they came together in one. I dont love it, but I do love the background piece created by inking up my seashell impressabilites.

Thats all for today, thanks for visiting. Enjoy your extra hour this weekend!

Studio Calico Sketch

Happy Thursday! I've been doing so much stuff on the computer lately, I've been craving some good old fashioned scrapbooking. I have played along with the Sunday Sketch at Studio Calico.

I bought these White Frames from Ikea before I moved from Edmonton, and I've been trying to find the perfect thing to put in them since. I was thinking black and white travel pictures, but they just seemed so cluttered still.
During my Illustrator class I learned how to do a trace of my pictures, so I've traced three of my pictures from my most recent trip to Europe, and I'm pretty happy with them.

Happy Halloween!

Hello and Happy Halloween! I made a little box of goodies to send out for Halloween, I was busy collecting toilet paper tubes, to wrap in paper and fill with chocolates and wrap in cellophane. They were appreciated! (For some reason I can't get the photo to rotate - oh well!)

more illustrator creations

Hello! I've been having so much fun with my illustrator class so I have a few more creations to share. I feel like since the course started I haven't done anything creative except illustrator, but I am just having so much fun and its so addicting.
I was nervous for the class, since I am not happy drawing in "real life", I wasn't sure how I was going to be able to draw "on the computer", so I am so excited to see that it is a totally different way of "drawing" and computer drawing is oh so much easier than real drawing.
Thanks for visiting!

and then I drew a giraffe

I've been having so much fun playing in Illustrator, and I was so happy with how my birds came out the other day, so I decided to draw a giraffe. I'm really happy with how he came out too.

Illustrator Course

Hello! Most of my creative time lately has been eaten up with an online Adobe Illustrator Class I am taking. I am loving it so much! Such a fun new way to play.I was worried I wouldn't enjoy the course since I don't draw well, but it is such a different way of drawing. These are some of the graphics I have been working on.

I have so many creative ideas swimming in my head these days. I am enjoying the creative process and where it takes me. Today I am oh so happy it has taken me to the digital world of Illustrator.

a few cards

Hola darlings. This week has been mostly unproductive craft wise for me. Work has been crazy, so I'm tired at the end of the day. A couple of weekends ago I made some teabag cards, it was one of those lovely days when one card inspires the next, and so on. A wonderfully fun creating time was had.

And, just because I miss my sister.

Inspiration Journal

I've been hugely inspired by Donna Downey, especially her 'Inspiration Journals'. A couple of weeks ago I finally made my own inspiration journal as a spot where I can paint and play with ideas and just create.

'Be You Tiful' I painted a while ago when I still lived in Edmonton, but I modified it a bit so it would fit in my journal.

'Life goes on, things change' is a line from one of my favorite Tim McGraw songs, and reminded me of the beautiful fall leaves. It was fun including the beautiful fall leaves I've been enjoying lately.

I was inspired by my journal fabric to play with some poppies:

Well thats it for now, thanks for visiting - have a great weekend!

Color Cue

Happy long weekend Monday! I've spent quite a bit of this weekend playing and being creative, and I decided to play along with a couple color challenges.
This is not a color combination I use often, so I figured it was a good challenge to play along with. I ended up making 2 very simple cards.

Thats it for now, thanks for visiting!

kraft-y creations

Good Morning! Yay, 3 day weekend! This past week it seems my favorite color for creating has been kraft. I've been inspired by my creative aunt and her teabag creations.

Both of my cards are teabag over booktext. "live well, laugh often, love much" I made for my
parents anniversary card.

I also made a really simple little notebook, with just a watercolored daffodil on the front.

Well thats it for now, time for more creating! Thanks for visiting!

Digitial

Lately I've been doing lots of playing with digital scrapbooking. Mostly because working on the computer is easier than unpacking and organizing all my "real" supplies. But I've been having lots of fun doing the digital stuff, playing with new tools and looking at all the product.

The good news is that I am slowly starting to get all my other stuff unpacked, so I'm hoping for some old fashioned creating time this long weekend!

Thanks for visiting!
