well that looks...interesting

Not appetizing really. Its supposed to be "White Chocolate Fudge Bars".

I learned a few things this morning while doing my "monthly, bake something new challenge".

First of all, the timer on my oven is really not loud enough for me to hear when I am working on my computer in another room, while my dad is using power tools in the basement. It's a measly beep. And when you finally realize what that little beep noise is, there is no way of knowing how long the timer has been going off for. But, I still don't think they we're burned.

Second of all - if there is no cocoa or chocolate chips in the recipe, its probably not going to come out very chocolatey. Even if it looks chocolately in the picture.

Thirdly - Apparently I've inherited none of the baking skill from either of my grandmas.

But, I ate one. It didn't really taste like anything much. Definitely not the delicious treat I was hoping for.

I've been doing lots of creating this weekend, but mostly digital stuff, so it doesn't really feel like I've got anything accomplished until I can pick it up from the printers.

Pool doodles

One day last week I sat in the sun by the pool and played with watercolors and a sharpie.

Unfortunately, now I am back to the real world. And counting down the days until my next getaway. 28.

styrofoam happiness

I had a quick play this afternoon, with drawing out a design in a piece of craft foam. I inked it up, and created these little pieces of play. One on paper and one on fabric. The paper piece I added some acrylic paint in the white space and doodled it up.
The fabric one...I don't know yet what direction it will go.

every monday should be like this

What a wonderful way to spend a Monday. Inspired by the recent Alisa Burke class, Beneath the Surface, we had a day of fabric painting and play. We made a huge mess in my kitchen and had an awesome day.

sketchy free motion

I had painted pieces of fabric that I'd been doodling on. I wanted to try out free motion quilting one of them instead, so finally I got done to it today. I haven't done very much free motion quilting...so its pretty shaky. I don't know that I love it, but I'm happy I played with it. And happy that I turned it into a bag and happy I finished it today.

My bag is filled with grandma's brownies and we are impatiently waiting for a ride to my mom's for thanksgiving dinner.

working on digi stuff

Today I am working on digital stuff, listening to Tim McGraw and trying to forget that there is a new parcel of art supplies on my kitchen table, until I get this digi stuff done.
And by kitchen table, of course, I mean air hockey table.
And this picture is horrible because I took it using my ipad, since my camera battery is dead.

random tuesday

I haven't had much time to get my studio all messed up again since the housewarming, so nothing really crafty to share. The housewarming went over well, with perhaps a bit too much wine consumed.

On Saturday (my cleaning for housewarming day), I delayed my studio cleaning till last. This was the mess I faced.

I was already exhausted from cleaning, and barely made it though. It turned out okay in the end. And by okay, I mean, a lot of things got stuffed in random drawers, probably never to be seen again. But I'm okay with that, because everyone loved my studio.

And, I bought an ipad. I am loving discovering the digital world of doodle-ling and the digital sketching and drawing apps that they have. And my upcoming two day travel time to get to Africa now seems so much shorter.
