goodbye lens

Yesterday after I arrived home from Hawaii, my camera was involved in a fatal accident.

 

The camera body has pulled through and will survive, but my 18 - 135mm lens was fatally injured.

What a sad, sad day. Goodbye my lens. We saw many wonderful things together.

I'm off today for a five night work trip in Hawaii - the big island.

Here's a little illustration I created to include with my work report, and also to practice my illustration skills.

Photo Inspiration: Toucans

On my trip to Brazil last September, I was inspired by the bright colors, clean lines, and shapes of the beautiful toucans.

I had many doodles of toucans in my sketch book from Brazil, so I finally brought some of those to life today in some simple toucans.




I didn't have time to make a full pattern out of them, but I will return to these little guys when I have some more time, and make something like this.

We received fresh snow today, so we are a long way away from flowers or spring, but I've been drawing lots of little spring blooms lately.

under the weather

I've been sewing. I've been looking after my pup. I've been planning lots of travelling. I've been doodling and planning. And now I've been snuffling and sneezing. And I just dont feel like creating any of the things I have on my list, because they all just seem to take to much energy.

So tonight, I just sat down and doodled nothing, with no expectations and just through it all together in a doodle style collage. Keeping it simple. Hopefully soon I'll be feeling better and have more to share.

The only problem were the colors are totally not my inner temple.

 

 

 

I recolored my design, to make it more me, and I like it quite a lot more now. 

 

# 11 - Go to Seattle

We spent the long easter weekend in Seattle. We had gorgeous weather. We ate delicious food. We sat in the sunshine. We did some shopping. We admired the neverending flowers at the Pike Place Market. We laughed at the river otters at the aquarium. We marveled at Chihuly Glass & Gardens. We went to the top of the Space Needle. We rode a giant ferris wheel.

 

It was an amazing mini vacation. One of my favorite cities.
